smallStory Lessons
Little Language Lessons Tailor-Made for Your Little One’s Growing Mind.
Supercharge your little one’s language learning in a little as 5 minutes a day, even if you don’t speak the language!
How It Works
-
Stories
The keystone of our lessons is our unique smallStory books. Reading to your little one encourages brain development and lays the foundation for language and early literacy skills. Stories are developed and read by native speakers of your target language.
-
Baby & Me Learning
Our method introduces your baby to the building blocks of a new language through active learning exchanges - meaning you will be involved! Our hope is to give parents the opportunity to bond with their little ones over the gift of language.
-
Designed for Parents
We know every family is different. Our lessons are designed to accommodate each individual parent’s goals, schedule, and parenting style. Our system helps you set your goals, track progress, and provides all the learning resources you need to confidently bring language development to your little one.
What’s Included
-
Books
Each lesson comes with two books. The first is created by the smallTalk team with language development at the forefront. The second was authored and illustrated by parents who are native speakers of your target language to bring their unique cultural aspect and authentic language.
-
Storytime with Native Speakers
To accompany each book, we provide a storytime read-along, delivered by native speakers in infant-directed speech, an important speech pattern for language learning. Avoiding screen time? No problem! We have audio-only, as well as video versions available.
-
Vocabulary
Lessons include flashcards of the core vocabulary words, as well as video pronunciation guides to help you and your little one hear and see the correct ways to pronounce each word.
-
Play Activities
To ensure the material sticks and reinforces in a way that your little one will adore, lessons also include play activities using common toys or household items.
The smallStories Project
Developing culturally relevant content in true native language, we co-create stories with caregivers from around the world. Learn more about our parent authors & illustrators, as well as information on how to join the project.
